This free e-learning course helps learners to understand the impact of parental mental illness on the family unit and to recognise the benefits of a family-sensitive approach to working with families where a parent has a mental illness.

The course comprises of six interactive modules that encourage learners to reflect on and evaluate their current practice and to develop strategies to support children, parents, carers and families living in these environments.

The course is designed for:

  • Mental health professionals
  • Medical, nursing and allied health professionals
  • Social services
  • Non-government organisations
  • Members of the general public

The course will take between six to ten hours in total but can be completed over multiple sessions and at the learner’s own pace. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points can be earned through professional associations.
