Supporting child mental health through a whole of practice approach webinar

North Western Melbourne PHN, Australia, November 2022

Resource Summary

This webinar offers practical ideas on how a ‘whole-of-practice’ approach in primary health care can be implemented and explores the benefits of the whole of team approach to families accessing general practice.

The growing demand for child mental health services significantly outpaces the availability of specialist workforces, necessitating innovative approaches to service delivery in primary health care. This webinar, delivered in partnership with North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN), explores a paradigm shift from individual-focused interventions to whole-of-practice solutions.

The whole-of-practice approach recognises that change at the practice level is a collective goal, requiring the engagement of all practice staff, including practice nurses and non-clinical practice staff. This webinar offers practical ideas on how such approach can be implemented and explores the benefits of the whole of team approach to families accessing general practice.

The panel includes:

  • Melissa McCosker, child and family partner
  • Dr Aaron Chambers, GP
  • Alison Chambers, practice nurse
