Introducing facilitated training packages with Emerging Minds

For over seven years, Emerging Minds has collaborated with practitioners, families, organisations and academics to develop practices, competencies and resources to support your work with infants, children and their families.

Now we are excited to introduce facilitated training packages. In addition to engaging online learning content, these packages offer tutorials and workshops to deepen your knowledge and understanding of an extensive range of practice skills.

Our first training package is Advanced practice certificate in child mental health and trauma. This free, 28-week program is delivered across five modules focused on different aspects of children’s mental health. It uses a blended learning model that includes video demonstrations, written content, case studies, practitioner interviews, tutorials and workshops to provide individualised professional development.

The advanced practice certificate will provide you with understandings about what child mental health is, why it is important and the contexts that affect it. It incorporates over 120 practice competencies, including strategies to:

• effectively engage with children using trauma-informed principles
• work with parents when their adversities are negatively affecting their children
• develop confidence in culturally safe and responsive engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families
• work effectively with infants, toddlers and their families
• work curiously, competently and confidently with culturally and linguistically diverse children, parents and families
• respond to a range of specific presentations, including autistic children, ADHDer children, and children who have experienced trauma or bullying.

Throughout the program, you will have the invaluable opportunity to connect with fellow learners and Emerging Minds professionals to unpack and discuss the training content and explore ways to apply it in your practice.
