The Families Hub is an educational resource designed to support parents and carers. It is not a clinical service, and we do not share any information you enter with practitioners. Use of the Hub is voluntary and at your own risk, and it should not replace professional advice.
About the Families Hub
The Families Hub is a national online resource designed to provide strengths-based, evidence-informed guidance to families navigating concerns about their child’s emotional and behavioural wellbeing. It is not designed to provide clinical care, diagnoses, or treatment. Instead, it offers tools and strategies to help families feel more confident and supported in taking early, proactive steps.

Eligibility and appropriate use
The Families Hub is intended for use by adults – particularly parents, carers, and other supportive adults – who are seeking practical guidance in supporting children’s mental health and wellbeing.
If you are under 18, we encourage you to explore the Families Hub together with a parent or trusted adult.
Your use of the Families Hub does not create a clinical, therapeutic, professional or client relationship between you and Emerging Minds, its staff, or any affiliated practitioners. The Hub does not provide diagnosis, treatment or personalised health advice. If you have concerns about a child’s wellbeing, you should seek guidance from a qualified practitioner such as a GP, child health nurse or mental health professional.
The Hub is designed for personal and non-commercial use. We kindly ask that you use it in a respectful and lawful manner using the registered username and password associated with your account.
If you decide to stop using the Families Hub after initially accepting the Terms of Use, you must immediately stop using your account, and notify us to remove your account. Refer to user accounts section for more information on account removal.
General information only – not medical advice
The information and resources in the Families Hub are provided to support learning and confidence-building. They are not intended to replace advice from a qualified health or mental health professional.
If you are worried about a child or feel that professional help is needed, we encourage you to speak with a GP, child health nurse, counsellor, or other qualified provider.

The information and tools provided may not be suitable for your individual circumstances, and Emerging Minds makes no guarantee regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability or applicability of any content. You are responsible for evaluating and verifying any information before relying on it or applying it to your situation.
The Families Hub is not a health, medical, therapeutic or crisis service. No clinician monitors or reviews your use of the Hub, and no diagnoses, treatment advice or clinical recommendations are provided.
Privacy and your personal information
We take your privacy seriously. Any personal information shared through the Families Hub is handled in line with our Privacy Policy.
Emerging Minds is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that any information you enter into the Families Hub remains confidential. The Families Hub does not collect identifiable personal or health information unless this is clearly stated at the point of collection. Any notes, reflections, responses, or other content you create within the Hub remain under your control and are not monitored, accessed, or reviewed by Emerging Minds staff, practitioners, or third parties.
The Families Hub does not transmit, share, or otherwise make your information available to practitioners, clinicians, service providers, or other external parties. Emerging Minds does not provide practitioners with access to your activity, entries, progress, or usage of the Hub, and the Hub does not create any channel for practitioner oversight or involvement and no data from the Families Hub is used for clinical decision making.
You are solely responsible for deciding whether to share any information or outputs from the Hub with health professionals or any other individuals. If you choose to disclose your reflections or tool outputs to a practitioner, you do so at your own discretion.
Unless clearly stated, we do not collect identifiable personal or health information through the Families Hub. We may collect non‑identifying usage data to help improve the Hub, but this does not include the content you enter or create within the Hub and cannot be used to identify you.
Information collected in the Families Hub is stored in a database in a secure server location hosted in Australia and will not be used for any other purpose. It will be retained until a user requests deletion of this information. Please refer to the Access and use section for instructions on how to request the deletion of your account.
Your responsibilities when using the Families Hub
When accessing or using the Families Hub, you agree to take responsibility for how you engage with the information, tools, and resources provided. Specifically, you acknowledge and agree that:
Use of information
You are responsible for evaluating the relevance and suitability of any information or guidance provided in the Families Hub for your personal circumstances. The Hub does not provide clinical, therapeutic, diagnostic or crisis services, and should not be relied upon as a substitute for advice from a qualified health or mental health professional.
Verification and decision‑making
You should independently verify any information before acting on it. Any decisions you make based on content within the Hub are entirely your own, and you use the Hub at your own risk.
Confidentiality of your entries
Any notes, reflections or responses you create within the Hub remain under your control. Emerging Minds does not monitor, review or forward your information to practitioners or third parties. You are solely responsible for deciding whether, how, and with whom to share any information you generate through the Hub.
Seeking additional support
You are responsible for seeking professional support if you have concerns about a child’s wellbeing or if you require clinical advice. If anyone is at risk of harm or in immediate danger, you must contact emergency services by calling 000 or attending your nearest hospital.
Lawful and respectful use
You agree to use the Families Hub in a lawful, respectful and appropriate manner. You must not interfere with the functionality of the Hub, attempt to gain unauthorised access, or use automated systems to extract or reproduce content.
Personal use only
The Families Hub is designed for personal, non‑commercial use. You must not reproduce, adapt or distribute any material for other purposes without written permission from Emerging Minds.
Technology and security
You are responsible for ensuring your own device security and for any actions taken under your account or device usage. Emerging Minds cannot guarantee uninterrupted access to the Hub and is not responsible for any technical issues arising from your device, internet connection or software.
By continuing to use the Families Hub, you confirm that you understand and accept these responsibilities.
Use of the Families Hub by practitioners
The Families Hub is intended primarily as a guided resource for parents and caregivers. Practitioners, including health and social service professionals, are welcome to refer families to the Hub as part of their clinical judgment and broader support planning.
Practitioners should exercise their own professional expertise in determining whether the Families Hub may be a suitable supplementary resource for a particular family’s needs. The Hub is not designed to replace clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment or therapeutic intervention.
When practitioners recommend the Families Hub, they should ensure families understand that:
- the Hub is an educational and support tool, not a clinical service;
- information provided through the Hub is general in nature and may not be tailored to their personal circumstances; and
- use of the Hub is voluntary and at the user’s own discretion.
The Families Hub does not allow practitioner access to user activity, reflections, entries or personal information. Emerging Minds does not share identifiable information with practitioners, nor does the Hub provide any mechanism for practitioners to monitor, review or receive updates on a family’s use of the tool.
Practitioners may find the Families Hub useful as a supplementary tool to:
- support psychoeducation
- reinforce therapeutic concepts
- provide families with child‑friendly strategies between appointments
- encourage early help‑seeking and self‑reflection.
Practitioners should continue to rely on their clinical training, assessment processes and professional frameworks when supporting families, and should not use the Families Hub as a substitute for appropriate clinical care.
Intellectual property
Emerging Minds owns all materials in the Families Hub, including videos, text, illustrations and downloadable tools.
You are welcome to read, view and download content for your personal use. We ask that you do n0t copy, adapt or share the material in other contexts – especially for commercial purposes – without first seeking permission from Emerging Minds.
Changes to the Families Hub and these terms
We may update the Families Hub or these Terms from time to time to ensure they remain relevant and accurate.
If any significant changes are made, we will aim to make this clear when you visit. By continuing to use the Hub after changes are made, you are agreeing to the updated Terms.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
We aim to ensure the content on the Families Hub is helpful, current and grounded in evidence. However, we cannot guarantee that all information will be perfectly suited to your individual situation.
To the extent permitted by law:
- we are not responsible for any harm or loss that may arise from use of or reliance on the Families Hub or its content;
- the Hub is offered as a supportive tool, not as a clinical service, and should be used alongside other supports as needed.
Third-party content and links
Access and use
We want the Families Hub to be accessible and welcoming for all users. However, if there are any concerns around misuse or behaviour that undermines the purpose of the Hub, Emerging Minds reserves the right to restrict access when necessary.
You must create an account and provide certain information about yourself in order to use some of the features that are offered on the Families Hub. You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of this information, and you are responsible for maintaining the safety, confidentiality and security of your identifying information. You are also responsible for all activities that occur under your account or password. If you think there are any possible issues regarding the security of your account on the website, inform us immediately at [email protected] so we may address them accordingly.
The use of the Emerging Minds Families Hub website is funded for persons in Australia and no person outside Australia is entitled to use the Emerging Minds Families Hub website.
Users may request to have their account removed. To request the removal of an account, contact [email protected]. Where an individual’s account is removed, all information on the website will be removed and will no longer be available. This removed information will no longer be accessible or recoverable to any users in the future.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of South Australia, Australia. Any concerns or issues arising under these Terms will be handled through the legal system in this jurisdiction.
