Engaging in bullying

It's important for parents and carers to be aware of what's happening in their child's social word. This list includes some of the common signs a child could be involved in bullying (experiencing and/or engaging in it).

When you first find out your child is experiencing or engaged in bullying take a moment to check your reactions and feelings before talking to your child. Plan your conversation with them and make sure you're looking after yourself too.

It can be hard for a parent to believe their child has been involved in bullying. If someone has told you your child has been engaging in bullying behaviour, or you think they could be, you might be feeling shocked, disappointed, angry, confused or defensive. These are all understandable reactions.
