National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day

4 August 2025

Held on 4 August each year, National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day is an initiative of SNAICC – National Voice for our Children. It gives all Australians the opportunity to show their support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and learn about the impact that culture, family and Community play in the life of every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child.

This year’s theme, ‘Little Footsteps, Big Future’, honours the journeys Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children take as they grow – each step guided by culture, Community and connection to Country.

At Emerging Minds, we worked with communities across Australia to create The whole Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child. This video offers a glimpse into the deep connections Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to Country, culture, spirituality, family and Community.

We invite you to join us in recognising the importance of nurturing children’s voices and dreams on Children’s Day. Together, we can support a future where every child walks strong in their identity and is empowered to shape their own path.
