National Workforce Survey

What is the National Workforce Survey?

The National Workforce Survey of Child, Parent and Family Mental Health (NWS) is a research activity periodically conducted by Emerging Minds to review the competency and practices of Australia’s health, social and community services, education and other relevant workforces across various aspects of infant and child mental health.

Anyone working with children and their families in any capacity is welcome to complete the NWS, regardless of their engagement with Emerging Minds. Along with questions about location, sector and role, we ask practitioners to self-rate their capability and confidence to work with children and adults in a range of domains related to mental health.

Survey results provide us with insight into the strengths and needs of the Australian workforce, which helps shape our learning resources and informs evaluation of the National Workforce Centre for Child Mental Health (NWC). In collaborating with leaders, policymakers and organisations we share sector- and region-specific NWS data with a view to creating workforce development strategies and opportunities to improve the capacity of systems to support children and families.

  • How we can work with you

In addition to incorporating the voices of families, communities and practitioners in our resources, we work closely with organisations to support implementation, systems change and the use of data in decision-making. We can also partner with organisations on service model design and evaluation.
