Opportunities for a coordinated system of support

Emerging Minds, Australia, February 2026

Children and their families engage with a range of workforces and systems every day, with many playing a role in supporting children’s mental health and wellbeing. While access to specialist care is important, there are great benefits to expanding opportunities to reach children and families earlier in their journey and to respond to concerns in a coordinated way.

Through consideration of data and findings from recent research projects, Emerging Minds has identified opportunities to promote improvements to competency, collaboration and coordination across health, education, social and community services.

Held in February 2026, this is the third webinar in a three-part series titled Towards a comprehensive child mental health system: Exploring data and policy.

This webinar considers the scope for systems to improve mental health support for children and their families across the spectrum of services. Emerging Minds team members discuss their work on a competency framework to support development of child mental health professionals, in alignment with the organisation’s vision for a comprehensive child mental health system. The team also explore the role that sectors and organisations can play in bringing this vision to fruition for the wellbeing of children and families.

This webinar is led by Dr Melinda Goodyear (Chief Advisor: Policy and Impact, Emerging Minds and Senior Lecturer, School of Rural Health, Monash University) and Brad Morgan (Director, Emerging Minds).
