Understanding and responding to childhood suicidal ideation: A case scenario

Child Family Community Australia & Emerging Minds, Australia, April 2025

Co-presented with Child Family Community Australia (CFCA), this webinar uses a case scenario to reflect on ethical considerations and practical strategies to help practitioners better understand and support children experiencing suicidal ideation. The panellists will also discuss how practitioners can foster connection, seek the child’s insights, and recognise the strengths of the child and their family.

Facilitated by Dan Moss (Manager, Practice Developmentm Emerging Minds), the expert panel includes:

  • David Newman (narrative therapist and social worker)
  • Dr Lyn O’Grady (community psychologist)
  • Arianne Coad (child and family partner).

This session will build on the topics explored in Understanding and responding to childhood suicidal ideation, a recent webinar co-presented by Emerging Minds and the Mental Health Professionals’ Network. Although not essential, you may find it helpful to view the recording of the previous webinar before viewing this presentation.
