New podcast episode: Working towards a future without childhood sexual abuse

The National Centre for Action on Child Sexual Abuse (National Centre) was established in recognition of data from the Australian Child Maltreatment Study, which showed that one in three girls and one in five boys experience some form of sexual abuse before the age of 18. The National Centre has since conducted a community attitudes study, which highlighted the need to increase practitioner confidence in identifying and responding to signs of child sexual abuse.

In this episode, Alisa Hall, the National Centre’s Director of Practice Development and Engagement, outlines her work providing knowledge resources to non-specialist practitioners and organisations, who are increasingly meeting with children and young people affected by child sexual abuse. She shares the National Centre’s key messages on child sexual abuse, including that this difficult topic is everyone’s business. This messaging reinforces that all professionals working with children and young people have a role to play in supporting them.

Working towards a future without childhood sexual abuse is available now on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts and our website.
