Engaging fathers and their children

This webinar explores practices that make it possible for fathers to discuss their children’s social and emotional wellbeing with health professionals. Through a facilitated panel discussion this webinar covers service design, assessment protocols, and practitioner attitudes and competencies that can encourage a father’s participation in services. The webinar features an interdisciplinary panel of subject matter experts: Dr Bruce Robinson, AM (Physician), John Clark (Emerging Minds Child and Family Partner), Dom Alford (Social Worker) and is facilitated by Dr Dan Moss (Emerging Minds Workforce Development Manager).

Learning outcomes

  • Identify ways of working with fathers to improve access and engagement with a service.
  • Describe ways of talking to fathers about their hopes and concerns for children.
  • Identify ways of supporting fathers when they are engaging in behaviours that have negative influences on their child’s mental health.
