Child mental health resources for GPs

Emerging Minds produces a range of child mental health resources for GPs, including accredited online courses. This GP toolkit curates these resources into one easy location. In it you’ll find podcasts, factsheets, webinars, tools, online courses, and more. There are resources that are designed for you to use, as well as materials to share with patients and their families. 

The toolkit divides child mental health resources for GPs into five categories:   

Accredited online courses
These online courses are accredited by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) for CPD Activity or Accredited Activity points. They are created with GPs, for GPs and cover a range of topics related to the mental health and wellbeing of children from birth through to age 12. Topics include  supporting children’s resilience, mental health assessment (0 – 5 years, and 5 – 12 years), and supporting children and families through bushfires and other natural disasters. See each course overview for more detail.For an overview of our recommended learning pathway for GPs, see here. Parent resources
These resources are designed for families to use in conjunction with their GP or for you to supply to them. There are a selection of apps, guides and factsheets that are freely available to everyone.

Assessment tools
The following resources are for you to refer to when meeting with a family where a child may be experiencing a mental health difficulty. There are age-specific resources for 0-5 year olds and 5-12 year olds, templates to print out and fill in and a template for mapping referral services.

RACGP webinars
In partnership with RACGP, the following webinars have been produced to cover a range of topics related to child mental health, including prevention, assessment, and management. For information about upcoming webinars, subscribe to our e-newsletter here.

Podcasts
