Implementation and conclusions: Applying the skills of focused psychological strategies for children (5–12 years)

Emerging Minds and Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), July 2025

A key challenge in delivering focused psychological strategies is creating a context that draws on both the skills and know-how of children as well as the practice wisdom of the practitioner. Presented by RACGP Specific Interests and Emerging Minds, the final webinar in this four-part series focuses on some of the skills that can support GPs with this practice challenge.

This webinar covers how GPs can support families to notice progress even in the face of difficulties that can arise for children and families when they are implementing new skills. It also includes considerations for ending overall work with children and families in ways that are collaborative, acknowledging and accountable.

Led by Dr Tim Jones (Chair, RACGP Specific Interests Child and Young Person’s Health), the expert panel includes:

  • Dr Michaela Baulderstone (FRACGP)
  • Penny Sih (psychologist)
  • Amanda Warren (Engagement Officer – Primary Health Care, Emerging Minds).
